Why are we boycotting Black Friday?

At R-PUR, we have never taken part in Black Friday, contrary to our values: expensive French production, a fair price all year round, an ecological approach in which we believe.

This year, we decided to go further and join the collective Make Friday Green Again, launched by the French clothing brand Faguo.

By reading this article, we hope that you will understand our approach.

We remain available to discuss it with you.

The choice of Made in France

We wanted to thank you for being here and reading us.

At R-PUR, we have never taken part in Black Friday.

We are going to explain to you why we are not going to sell off our prices either today or tomorrow.

From the beginning, we have chosen French manufacturing with traditional know-how.
Our pieces are hand sewn, and many steps are required to create a mask.

You can also follow the creation of a mask directly in our dedicated section on the values we convey: "Our Values"

This year, we wanted to go further in our approach, after all we should not be the only ones to think so.

Different collectives gathered around the same cause

First, we looked to see if other companies had the same vision as us. After all, there can be a lot of reasons for young brands not to participate in Black Friday, ignoring the huge one-day profits.

We came across three different organisations, which we would like to mention here:

  • The Green Friday collective: for the 3rd consecutive year, the association is actively fighting against hyperconsumption.
  • The Black for Good collective: launched by the creator of Made.com, this association currently brings together more than 70 actors.
  • The Make Friday Green Again collective: movement launched by the French brand Faguo which brings together more than 600 actors at the time of writing.

These are all three great initiatives and we had to choose which one to join: by looking more closely at the members of the three collectives, we only came across brands that we are close to ( Adresse Paris , Gang de Grand-Mères , Laulhère ) and it is quite naturally that we chose Make Friday Green Again.

We think it is important to retain the approach launched and the message conveyed: unreasonable consumption and the perpetual search for profit should no longer be done despite nature and ecology.

This year proves to us that the steps of companies are more and more important to more and more consumers.

They are the ones who have the purchasing power, and a new wave is being born and gaining in intensity, we can only congratulate you.

On the R-PUR side, we will therefore not be participating in Black Friday, and we will not be offering any sales during the week and on Friday November 29.

Many of you wrote to us asking if we were making discounts for this event.

We wanted to thank you for your understanding when we explained our vision.

We are aware that R-PUR masks have a certain price, not accessible to everyone. Know that in addition to our development, we believe that education around air pollution is all the more important to fight it.

This is why we are in discussion with mutuals for a part to be reimbursed.

Our commitments in favor of ecology

We didn't necessarily wait for Black Friday to take the environment into account in our project.

From the creation of the company, our mask had to fulfill these two points:

  • The mask had to last over time, which is why our mask is guaranteed for life .
  • The interchangeable filter should be able to be recycled : our recycling process is currently underway, recycling terminals will be available at our partner points next spring. For now, you can keep your filters or send them to us and we store them on our side.

Every detail of the mask has been designed to last over time: the superior quality fabric used for its anti-abrasion and breathable qualities, the Velcro fasteners have been specially developed to be elastic, which also gives it ultra-resistant capacities .

We wanted to offer a top-of-the-range product, respectful of the environment, and protecting the health of those who wear it on a daily basis.
